Easthampton Renters Speak Out: Stories, Struggles & Solutions
Easthampton Renters Public Forum 7/16/2025
Residents, tenant organizers, and legal advocates gathered for a powerful public forum addressing Easthampton’s growing housing crisis. Hosted by Springfield No One Leaves and supported by Easthampton renters and allies, the event featured firsthand testimonies from tenants facing steep rent hikes, evictions, and the threat of displacement by corporate landlords like Hurricane Properties and Rowan Capital LLC.
Speakers called on the Easthampton City Council to:
- Support rent stabilization at the state level
- Enact local ordinances to regulate corporate real estate ownership
- Show up at rallies and protests in solidarity with renters
Voices from 17 Adams Street, Pleasant View Apartments, and across the city shared urgent stories and clear demands, uniting around a vision of housing justice and community preservation.
